To Autumn

A treasure trove of colour cascades through
The countryside; reflecting shades of fall
With trees all decked in red and golden hue
In autumn pride they stand so very tall
And in the breeze I hear September call
Her gentle whisper echoes where senses thrall
Within the magic of the darker nights
And seasons turn to the harvest delights
The children return to the schoolyard fights
And lessons in the repainted classroom
And in verbatim the French verbs recite
While mathematics fills the heart with gloom
As Samhain beckons with fancy costume
And the bonfires with their smoky perfume

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
