What Makes a Pirate

Photography by Al Forbes

When a sailor finds the shore should he stay
And leave his life of roaming far behind
If love has come to play upon his mind
Or should he leave and sail his ship away?
He only has his dreams when out at sea
And they all start and end with love and she
But if he weighs the anchor on the land
Will she be distant and slip through his hand
She has learned to stand alone on her feet
And now he’s said he will always be there
She casts his love aside without a care
Once more he sails away, admits defeat
To the seas that have always known his name
And vows no more to let his heart be tame

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
