Born to Be Free

My pen reveals the truth as I confess
The hidden secret held so long inside
In words my being is no more denied
But you must deal with it as you feel best
I waited for the time to be just right
But always I’d lose my nerve and self-respect
Leaving my depression to go unchecked
‘til on paper my words came out tonight
The feelings I’d known inside all along
Of fear and rejection that feeds the hate
But now my life cannot be made to wait
For in this truth I know I am not wrong
When in this life we are born to be free
Then I must live the life that’s right for me

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
