The Poets' Garret

The Poets’ Garret

Those sweeter thoughts are lost to mundane grey
As stormy winds clear out a dreamy night
And drudgeries of daylight take their place
In slumber’s embrace I would rather stay
And feel your kiss that sets my soul alight
As my eyes see the smile that lights your face
That smile that makes my day become worthwhile
Liberating my heart to beat again
As my fingers tap on another key
And for you I would walk that extra mile
Through summer sun and winter’s snow and rain
Until I am where I am meant to be
Darling, wherever life may make me roam
It is with you, my love, that I am home

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.

  1. Eleanor Roberts says:

Yes! This is a lovely poem that shows real talent from the writer. The 7th line could some up the feelings I have about my own relationship, now in its 40th year.
