Grandad

Grandfather and Grandson on the Beach by Mary Kemp

When I was young he held my hand
Along the beach he held my hand
Then built me castles in the sand

On the way home we stopped for tea
And on the prom we stopped for tea
A pot for him, ice cream for me

As years passed by he watched me grow
My guiding light he watched me grow
No more the kid he had in tow

Now looking back I feel him near
Although he’s gone I feel him near
My granddad I still love so dear

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.

  1. Fond memories. 🙂

  2. Lovely.. reminds me of my own grandfather. The blues stanza form is new to me, I really liked it though. Thank you for introducing me to it! 🙂 Cheers.
