A Breath

you can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.

Stephen King – On Writing: A Memoir Of The Craft)

An empty room surrounded me. Images of the past played out on the bare walls, my mind reeling in cinematic confusion. No one could tell me the answers. Images of the future I could not see, instead a blade glinted at my feet and all I could hear is the words ‘end it’ echoing around me. I picked up the knife and tapped the tip with my finger and a crimson pearl fell to the ground. I heard another voice. I dropped the blade and walked out the door.

stare fear in the face
look deep into its eyes
courage is to breathe

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
