A Cup of Tea

The passage of time flows on to the bay
As old wheels turn along the canal way
Echoes of crunched gravel marking the route
Over the footbridge and on past the church
Too fast; take a bend with a sudden lurch
Springtide flowers to fill the air with scent
Memories of then shine in the present
Of when we were young not giving a hoot
And watching the barges wait at the lock
All eager to move onward to the dock
Like then my bike stops here and as before
I find myself knocking on the wood door
Two friends sharing time with a cup of tea
Recalling the old days that used to be

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
