Winter Winds

The golden hues are fading in to grey
As icy winds reveal a winter’s day
No leaves remain to dance upon the air
Instead the feet feel bitter morning frost
Against the wind the woollen scarves are tossed
But inside my love has set a roaring fire
That warms my soul and with his heart’s desire
I face the cold of night without a care
With wistful dreamings of his gentle kiss
And mugs of sweet mulled wine steaming with bliss
The winter winds may bring the chilly cold
And leave an empty view for all to see
Yet I know his hand is always mine to hold
As it is love that shelters him and me

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
