Soul-searching

Last night demons attacked my sense of me
Denying dreams and thoughts the right to be
Replacing hope with an endless nightmare
From this hell will I ever be set free?
I know the answers are not found out there
But inside my soul if I can but dare
Look inside; and look deeper than before
So the inner self can be made aware
To dig so deep into my inner core
Is like reaching out for an unseen shore
A shot in the dark without a light to guide
It takes all my strength and then takes some more
In the end there can be no place to hide
The truth of self no longer left denied.

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
