Hell Revisited

Hell Revisited

My mind explodes out of reality
Into vibrant trails of unrestricted memory
As the hands on the clock spin anti-clockwise
Faster and faster.

My eyes seek solace
A place of tranquil serenity
But the past just keeps on coming
Closer and closer.

Echoes, it is just echoes
My lips repeating over and over
Still the darkness surrounds me
And as I stare hatred and rage in the face
I feel my skin burning with pain
Like an open wound that never heals.

The warm comfort of home evaporating
Before my eyes
I see nothing now
And all I can hear is my voice
Cowering on the floor
‘Please, don’t hurt me!’

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
