Stasis

stasis

Anticipations of joy cancelled by fear
endlessly waiting
for the next anxious step forward
a moment closer to the moment.

Time hanging in stasis
suspended from normality
mentally composing
another goodbye.

Imaginations of newspapers
retelling the horror
of sacrificial victims given for freedom
the price of civilised destruction.

At the gates of the altar
where voices fade into the white noise
of silently whispered farewells
so a man can face his fear.

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
