Oil and canvas
captured the wending trail
following the curvature of
her cheeks
the tears masking her beauty
looked down from the wall.
The room
a blandly empty background
devoid of emotion
a reflection of a memory
long since gone.
In the contrast of paint
emptiness and sadness churned
in Art Deco simplicity
named ‘Heartbreak’.
I stood in awe
in the silence of a modern polished floor
and wondered
what made such beauty cry?

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
