False Promises

Each day you teased my mind with false promises
that left my desire like an unopened flower
forgotten by the rays of loving sunshine
alone in the cold.

Still I gave you my heart to break in pieces
as the dawn broke on another silent night
and the game began anew with tender words
that led me to you.

Again I opened my eyes to your love’s dream
yet my senses knew my voice would only meet
the wall of silence that lay behind each hope
hidden in your eyes.

My heart no longer wants to feel your touch on
my skin as desire now burns for that you can’t give
as I already have claimed it and taken
my freedom to be.

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
