Brief Biography: Bartók is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century and along with Liszt one of the foremost Hungarian composers. He was one of the founders of ethnomusicology. Bartók’s music reflects two musical trends of the 20th century that dramatically changed the way music sounds, the breakdown of the diatonic system of harmony and the revival of nationalism as inspiration.
