Trapped

Silence the cold bars of the prison walls
The echoes of whispers of what could be
Yet no one hears as a butterfly falls.
Vibrant the wings lost inside the dark world
Where hope is a distant vision of life
In the embers of living wings lie curled
Dreams held on the sharpest edge of a knife.

Silence the cold bars of the prison walls
The echoes of whispers of what could be
Yet no one hears as a butterfly falls.
With wings pinned, held back by the hardened steel
There is no place to go, no way to fly
While deep inside the senses can still feel
And nobody answers the question: why?

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
