Evening Reflection

Cherry Blossoms by Giovanni Pascarella

As the day whispers into twilight tones
An April shower bids a fond farewell
The moon and stars take up their regal thrones
To bring the nightly dreams where futures dwell
The maidens, the mothers and wisest crones
Have come to call with a story to tell
In life and death, in love and dancing stones.

The mysteries chant the soul-songs of old
From the distant worlds of another day
When pretty ladies graced the knights so bold
A kiss to keep them safe upon the way
When days were warm and the evenings, cold
And a battle torn knight came home to stay
It’s to his lady that his story’s told.

Reflections shared beneath the lunar light
He tells how love from her carried him through
The days of war and ev’ry lonely night
His dreams of her embrace and love so true
To keep him strong when home was out of sight
A knight so bold, is also gallant too
He’s honour bound to kiss her sweet goodnight.

About Jez Farmer

I am a freelance writer and poet and started writing after raising my two boys as a way of discovering just who Jez is. That is still very much an on-going project but the journey so far has introduced me to many wonderful friends and fellow writers through an ever growing love of poetry.
