Dates: 23 February 1685 – 14 April 1759

Nationality: German

Title of Piece: The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba

Brief Biography: Handel was a Baroque composer and took British citizenship in 1727. He started three opera companies to bring Italian opera to the British nobility. Handel is regarded as one of the greatest composers of the Baroque era. When he died he was a respected man and at his funeral was given full state honours and burial at Westminster Abbey.
